Saturday Morning Breakfast (for dogs) :)
Everyone knows I treat my goldendoodles like my little kids (because they are). With some extra time on my hands and two very sleepy dogs, I was able to make them a treat to wake up to. George will eat just about everything but he REALLY loved these dog-friendly apple fritters! Bitsy really loved them too! Some pictures, the directions & recipe are below. Let me know how your dogs enjoy them! :-)
Prep time: 15 minutes
Bake time: 35 minutes
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
4 cups of flour
2 cups of water
1/4 cups of apple sauce
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of baking powder
4 tablespoons of honey
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Chop all 3 apples!
In a bowl, add the water, apple sauce, vanilla, egg, and your honey together! Mix until its a sticking together & consistent.
Tip: When buying your apple sauce, a lot of the baby food is already measured out to fill your measuring cup EXACTLY. You can then buy organic, made in America and healthy apple sauce for your dogs! I don't usually eat apple sauce, so this saves me from buying and wasting. :)
Add the chopped apples to your mix.
Save approximately 1 cup on the side if you'd like to use them on top of your muffins.
After mixing your apples in, use a spoon to fill your muffin pan.
Your choice: I chose to sprinkle the leftover chopped apples on top of the mix in their pan. If you choose not to, you can add the extra apples you set aside to the mix!
Bake for 30 minutes, check to make sure they are not burning! Cook them for 35 minutes to add a little extra crunch to them.
After taking them out of the oven, let them cool.
Sprinkle some confectionary sugar to add a little sweetness for your dogs! Mine love it!
Let me know how your treats turn out!! They are so simple to bake, they look delicious and smell just as yummy!
