I know it’s fairly late—I was at my dad’s this weekend and I just got back today which means a three hour drive—but happy Tuesday! Despite spending so long in the car today, I feel pretty good emotionally and definitely not the worst physically.
I had a good weekend! I unfortunately didn’t get to spend much time with my stepmom because she was busy but it’s always nice to see my dad and, of course, my dog! I was able to show her the Muppet Show special which was very exciting. My dad and I play a lot of games together and we got a good few hours on Sunday. I’m only there Saturday evening to Tuesday morning so it can be hit or miss.
I was able to print a bit of my new sheet music when I was there which I’ve already been practicing—it’s extra fun to play when I’m there because, without fail, my dog always comes and lays down beside my keyboard—and I’ve gotten half of the intro down fairly well. The problem for me is always playing with both hands. I’m able to do it fairly well when there’s either not much movement or only one or two notes in the accompanying hand, but anything more complicated can get pretty tricky for me.
Sleeping at my dad’s house can always be finicky because, even though my brain recognizes it as safe and familiar, I can struggle to adapt the first night, or the entire time if I’m not doing well. Yesterday I was able to wake up fairly early without falling back asleep and, much more importantly in my opinion, my dog slept in bed with me so I slept quite well. I did take a nap in the car, as I often do, but I was awake by noon so I’m not worried.
Honestly, the harder thing is just that I spend more time in the living room and thus sitting up when I’m there which can be irritating for my back pain. It’s not too bad now, thankfully, but I do see a fair bit of rest in my future—especially after sleeping in the car.
In better news, I’m starting a new crochet project this week! My mom got the yarn I needed so I’ll be starting on my dad’s birthday present soon! I can’t say what it is in case he reads this, but I’m excited. It is new territory for me but I think I can do it.
I’ve been playing Little Kitty, Big City again. I played it first at my dad’s, fitting the theme of today’s update, but I have it on my laptop now and I’m really having fun replaying it. I love a good mystery game but a more low stakes adventure like Little Kitty is so soothing for me. Except when I mess up in the middle of a jump or fall off a building but it’s never all that serious.
That’s about all I’ve been up to! I hope you’re doing well too or, if not, that you feel better soon. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you Friday!
